This time of year often turns into a huge competition for the best Halloween costume idea between friends. Some people (like our Business Development Manager, Nick) plan their costumes way ahead and never outfit repeat. This year shouldn’t be any different. We know finding something both cool and funny is hard, so we tracked down some of the best culturally relevant Halloween costume ideas to make all your friends jealous.

Not too hard to make but very geeky and “internet relevant”. If you want to show how up to date you are with memes and trending jokes, instead of a sexy cat, (boring) go as a grumpy cat.

If you don’t want to make or buy a costume you can always use the clothes you already have and go as your favourite social platform. Just choose the right colours and maybe print the logo if you’re feeling fancy. The most simple yet brilliant idea right?

However, if you have some time and want to be the top hipster at the party, find some cardboard and make yourself an Instagram costume. Imagine posting a photo of you being an Instagram to Instagram! Mind boggling!

With the Ebola panic, this costume is relevant and won’t shock anyone. Actually, it might be slightly insensitive to the issue really, but hey you can be ‘that’ guy at the party.

With the Tetris Movie coming up and Tetris itself being very nerdy, going as a Tetris block is a very appropriate geeky costume for 2014. Ideally convince a friend to come as another Tetris block so you can be a duo act together. Expect people to take your picture, a lot.

Following the recent events of the alleged arrest of Banksy, (hoax FYI) showing support for him as a fan is a must. Turning up to a Halloween party as his most famous piece of art might just make you very popular.
