With the summer kicking in full swing (sort of) we have decided to explore the 5 hottest fitness apps to help point you in the right direction to improving your fitness, or just take up more space on your phone! READ ON…
Nike Training Club:
After a hiatus from the gym we all tend to jump straight in and over-do it, two weeks of working out doesn’t mean much if the injury you have incurred is going to stifle you for the rest of the month. But this marvelous app offers customised workout routines which are based on your own fitness level. It also gives you the option to target specific areas of the body that you feel you need to focus on more. Can’t argue with it!
Gympact:
Now this app truly is for the bold and brave! The concept is simple (yet crazy but we love it), within a period of time you set yourself a number of gym visit targets. If you reach your targets you can earn monetary rewards, BUT every time you miss a workout you are fined. At the end of each week the fines are spread across all of the people who reach their workout goal.
Warning – attempt this system at your own discretion, and closest to payday…
Pocket Yoga:
One of our personal favourites. Forget going to yoga classes and feeling incredibly awkward because all of the people around you are stretching their legs in ways that you could only dream! This thing of beauty provides visual and audio guidance over 27 routines, so you can do it in the comfort of your own home.
iMuscle:
Exclusively to iPhone, this does exactly what is says in the title; select the muscle groups you want to work on and the app will offer you specific exercises. But what separates this from other apps out there is that you are given anatomical animations of the muscles so you know exactly what the focus is with each exercise. In turn, you will learn which workouts are the most beneficial for a particular muscle in the body.
Sportsletter:
This lovely gem provides you with monthly passes to local gyms, as well as personal training sessions and fitness programs. What’s the catch you ask? The app is a subscription-based service which is technically the same as having a rolling gym membership, but let’s face it, we all could do with the extra motivation sometimes to get us out from thinking about it to actually going out and doing it.
These apps are all free so you have zero excuses not to give them a go! We keep telling ourselves the same thing every day… Oh dear!
